1000 plus Swallows on local sewage works this morning.

There is at least 1000 Swallows hawking over the sprinkler beds on Dewsbury Sewage works this morning(at 09:45).There are a very small contingent of both House and Sand Martins also but no more than 50 birds combined.Also at the same site 2 singing Reed Warblers and single singing...

Sand Martins excavating a new colony on the Calder

Sand Martins.Encouraging signs in the valley on this species.

A distant inspection of my local Sand Martin colony at Ossett this morning revealed encouraging signs. There was at least 32 birds hovering around last seasons nesting holes (at least an hundred per cent increase) with another 140 birds feeding above the compost heaps adjacent to dewsbury sewage...
