A very dull and damp start to the day today with very litle wind maks one feel a little pessimistic s we set out on our daily walk around my local patch.

There was very few birds around first thing as I arrived in the copsec known as Kerries Reserve my main purpose was to fill the feeders and fill the fat ball containers.

2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers were on the feeders first thing an adult male and a juvenile. Also 5 Great tits 7 Blue Tits 2 Robins and 5 chaffinches not forgetting 3 Pheasants scrounging on the ground. The copse was fairly quiet first thing with just 5 Redwings ,6 Blackbirds and a very loud calling Water rail just oppositte the feeding area.

Dewsbury Sewage Works had 44 Common Teal and 2 European Wigeon on the centre of the works but was allmost devoid of small birds(excepting around 52 Pied Wagtails on the sprinkler beds).

Returning to the reserve I was astonishedc to see 4 Great Spotted Woodpeckers on the feeders and saw for the first time how aggressive they can be to other birds trying to feed there. Also a Willow Tit arrived and started to feed on the seed feeder at very regular intervals(see photogallery). At 10:22 hours 24 Pink Footed geese flew low over the Reserve going Eastwards(photogallery).

At the bottom of Healy Road 3 Grey Partridges were chasing each other whlst on Dewsbury Sewage there was 8 Grey Paridges and 5 Common Snipe.flushed near the copost heaps.
