Chiff Chaffs feeding with wandering Long Tailed Tits as calm weather brings out the flys

Some 15 Chiff Chaffs where feeding on small black flies stuck to the metal fence and adjoining Elder Bushes that border the Sewage Works immediately below the fields below Pidacre(Chickenley).The birds where mixed amongst a party of some 24 Long Tailed Tits which where also taking advantage of the fly glut.
Elsewhere just below the new road bridge at Saville Town on the river bank 37 Canada Geese and 35 Lapwings.There is stll 13 Tufted Ducks(mainly juveniles) on the Calder below Mill Bank Thornhill
There is still very few small birds about but a Common Whitethroat is still holding territory on Kerries Reserve Ossett.And there are few small parties of Linnets (22 this afternoon)feeding on Mugwort plants at variouse places around the Kerries Reserve area.
On Dewsbury Sewage Works this afternoon 21 Common Snipe 2 Green Sandpipers.All Wagtails appear to have disapeared from the works at the moment
Duck numbers are still good on the Sewage Works with some 28 Teal,4 Shoveller and 48 Mallard.3 Little Grebes are still present
