Common Sandpiper makes an appearence
30/04/2020 09:02A Common Sandpiper is on the rivers banking oppositte Dewsbury Sewage Works this morning.For about 2 minutes it was feeding alongside a Green Sandpiper before moving off slowly towards Dewsbury at around 07:40.
Whitethroats are quickly getting up to strength with 8 singing males in the lower Pildacre area and there are still 2 singing Sedge Warblers and 2 Reed Warblers singing in the area around the compost compound adjacent to the sewage works.
A female Sparrow Hawk was circling above the willow plantations below Mill Bank Thornhill at 08:15.
5 male Blackcaps where in full song around the Kerrys food factory this morning along with 4 feeding Linnets and 2 Greenfinch.
Just 8 Herring Gulls on the filter beds of the sewage workuis this morning and 25 Black Headed Gulls.
A Mallard has 6 very small ducklings on the Calder below Earlsheaton and a single very pale Grey Lag Goose flew West calling loudly at 08:30.
