Goosanders breed at Ossett for the first time

A pair of Goosanders have produced 3 youngsters at the bottom of Healy Road Ossett.Te female adult was observed for about a half hour with her new born chicks on the calder just around the Sand Martin colony area.(see picture gallery).Elsewhere there are now 5 singing male Sedge warblers on Dewsbury Sewage Works.Also at least 1 singing male Reed Warbler on the sewage works.

most of the large numbers of Swallows have now departed and have been replaced by some 200 Swifts and just a handfull of House martins

No sign of yesterdays Hobby in the area this morning.
