Its worth a visit
Today in the valley around Dewsbury Sewage Farm
12/01/2011 12:02Passerines particulary Finches continue to be in short supply in our area.Apart from 3 Bullfinches at Thornhill Wetlands there is hardly any at our local sites.
Duck numbers continue to be impressive with 74 Wigeon being flushed from Mill Bank all departing Eastwards towards Horbury Wyke.
On the Sewage Works were 114 Teal,36 Mallard and single Mandarin Duck.
On the river calder this morning no signs of the Red Head Smew but still 5 Goldeneye(all females or immatures) 3 Tufted duck and 8 Cormorants.5 Goosander all redheads were between Kerries Foods and Hotworks Mill.If it were not for the very high water levels on the river Duck numbers would be substantialy more.
65 Pied Wagtails were on the filter beds at Dewsbury Sewage Farm but there were virtually no Meadow Pipits on the site,
