There was a significant passage of Common swifts up the Calderc Valley today with birds stopping to feed on the compost heaps at the eastern end of Dewsbury sewage works.Some 800 Swifts with some 350 House martins and some 200 swallows were feeding early evening on the eastern end of the sewage works.

On Kerries reserve single Lesser whitethroat and displaying Reed warbler were both new for the year.

The Sand martin colony at Healy Road ossett was still looking rather sparse with around 12 pairs of birds present.
