Winchat on Dewsbury Sewage Works a good record for April

a Winchat  was on Dewsbury sewage works late this afternoon.The bird spent the whole of its time in the centre of the western part of the works but proved difficult to get close to.

Also on the works 3 singing Whitethroats,2 singing Willow Warblers,4 Gadwall,2 Little grebe. A Common Buzzard was over the works at 16:00 being mobbed by Carrion Crows.

Sand Martin numbers have trippled this week so far and the signs so far for the breeding season look very encouraging.There is still 2 pairs of Kingfishers on the Calder between Ossett and Dewsbury

There are now 142 Lapwings on Dewsbury sewage works.
1 little Ringed Plover on Dewsbury sewage Works.Also 2 Green Sandpiper and 2 Common Snipe. 3 new broods of Moorhen(making 7 broods this year)No sign of Cuckoos which appear to have moved on. 2 Oyster Catchers on filter beds.
